Giving back

We work closely with those Afghan charities which we have found are more likely to benefit directly from any contributions made through the sales at Beshtar. The charities described below are just some of the organisations we give money to from the proceeds of Beshtar.

Aschiana
In 2000, there were 700,000 students registered for school in Afghanistan, all of them male. There are now 4 million students, more than half of them girls. Aschiana, which means 'the nest', is a registered NGO in Afghanistan and understands that the children in the streets of Afghanistan can determine the future of the country. more...

AWEC
AWEC is a non-political, non-profit and non- governmental, local organization headed by women. It was established in 1991 by a group of Afghan women who wanted to address the lack of facilities for Afghan refugees in Islamabad in Pakistan. more...

Gardens for Life
87% of the Afghan female population is illiterate. This is slowly changing as more and more girls and women are finding places of refuge to not only learn to read and write but to develop a skill as well. more...
